Eternal Actuality
The work "Eterna Actualidad" (Eternal Actuality) is a visual manifesto from the point of view of the author. The designer Macarena Torres Puga has worked during her career on sustainable projects that involve experimentation, use and reuse of various materials, which led her in this instance to reflect her gaze on today and tomorrow, through 3 areas of her interest, photography, poetry and materials. She believes that the impact we have made on this planet do not only require functional solutions like most of us are trying to solve, but it is through the power of communication through different mediums, that allow for a more beautiful and subtle approach to this issue. This work conceals meanings through analogue photographs taken on the coasts of Chile, with a graphic intervention that simulates the extraction and intervention in our nature. This is accentuated by solid and pregnant figures that abruptly interpose themselves in the panorama. On the other hand, poetry interferes with the work, suddenly participating in it and adding to the complete message. Finally, the choice of materials alludes to the ephemeral but persistent nature of the silk thread, which not only accompanies the story with its movement, but also with its valuable durability.
